Hello,
Welcome to a beautiful summer at Copper. Be sure to get out there and enjoy it. At this time, I want to let you know about some recognition Copper received, as well as update you on golf, summer events, how the summer construction is going, how the Woodward at Copper summer camps have been faring and what is on tap for Labor Day Weekend.
NSAA honors "Everyone Deserves a Snow Day"
A huge honor for Copper was the National Ski Areas Association's (NSAA) 2009-10 award for best overall marketing by a ski area with more than 500,000 skier visits for our "Everyone Deserves a Snow Day" campaign. Copper was recognized in many different categories by Westword Magazine (best free snowshoe tour, best superpipe, best place to learn double-cork 1260s - Woodward at Copper), Colorado Ski Country USA (Jeff Kubick - Terrain Master of the Year) and Denver Post staffers (best place to "hit up on a powder day").
Noon Golf Season Pass
The Copper Creek Golf Course conditions are very good and improving daily. Due to a lean snow year, we experienced huge problems with some of the greens, particularly Holes 8 and 18. Thanks to the outstanding efforts by course superintendent Scott Sundeen and his team to resod both, these greens are playing nicely. For afternoon golf through the remainder of the summer, check out the new Noon Golf Pass for only $349. The only catch is that tee-times have to be booked at Noon or later. Guests can walk the course for no additional charge or purchase a cart for only $49 more for the remainder of the summer. Get your pass now to North America's highest championship 18-hole golf course, where your buck and ball go farther. For more information, call 866.388.9770
Events and Activities at Copper This Summer
Hopefully you had an opportunity to enjoy some of Copper's summer events and activities, like Genuine Jazz & Wine, Friday's at Copper (FAC), 3 Ring Weekend, the Parker Artists Guild Village Art Walk, and Hike MS. Still to come this summer are favorites such as the Copper Triangle, Guitar Town, Courage Classic and Copper Country, as well as great NEW events like Warrior Dash, and the Saturday Concert Series.
This summer Copper introduced a season-long activity pass providing unlimited access to the Digglers, Quad Power Bungee Jump, Paddle & Bumper boats on West Lake, the Climbing Wall, equipment hauls on the American Eagle chairlift, scenic chairlift rides, mini-golf and one session per day on Summit County's only go-kart track, Ten Mile Speedway...all this for only $69. The Summer Season Activity Pass can be purchased at the Adventure Desk in Copper Sports - Center Village (previously known as the MAC), or give them a call at 970.968.2318 ext. 45FUN.
Summer Construction Updates
In addition to $6 Million in capital improvements this summer, there is a lot going on in terms of construction. The Corn Lot expansion started early this month, with the overall goal to add about 400 additional spaces. The Union Creek parking expansion started this week and will add 90 or so additional parking spots. Both projects are expected to be completed by mid-October. Over the next two months, the snowmaking team will be very busy installing more snowmaking pipe, compressors and air and water lines in the Timberline pod (mostly on the American Flyer and Windsong trails), in addition to replacing some older snowmaking pipe on lower Andy's Encore.
Summer at Woodward at Copper
If you haven't visited the Woodward at Copper Barn and seen it in action yet, I highly recommend you do so at your earliest convenience-it truly is an amazing facility. Woodward at Copper hosted close to 500 campers through the seven summer camp sessions, with the final Session #7 starting on Sunday July 25 for the little Groms out there (ages 8-12). Campers are coming from all over America (and even a few from other countries) to participate in the unique summer camp offerings of Woodward at Copper. One camper this summer, Jon Zinter, writes, "I just wanted you to know that this camp was the most fun time of my life. I will never forget my stay at the EDGE and the teachings of my coach, Sasha. Everything you did was right and the program is phenomenal." This is just one of many praises for what the entire Woodward at Copper staff is delivering on a daily basis.
Starting August 1, through Sunday, September 5, Woodward at Copper will be open to the public on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays with the following offerings:
After Labor Day, Woodward at Copper will open seven days a week with full programming. Visit http://www.woodwardatcopper.com/ for all the details.
Labor Day Weekend (Copper Country and Homeowner Weekend)
A free Labor Day festival tradition, Copper Country celebrates the best of the American spirit. Incredible live music, Copper Country Arts Festival, kids' crafts, the Copper Kids' Corral, mechanical bull rides, a petting zoo and pony rides come together to make it THE Labor Day event for the entire family. This summer's performers include Dr. John, Pat Green, Radney Foster, The Richie Furay Band and Felix Cavaliere's Rascals. http://www.coppercountryfest.com/.
Copper Country coincides with our annual Homeowner Weekend. With many important HOA meetings throughout the weekend as well as the State of the Resort Address on Saturday morning, I look forward to seeing you at some point during Labor Day Weekend at Copper. The Homeowner Art Preview has been moved a little later to make it an after-dinner "Dessert Reception" on Friday, September 3, from 8-10 p.m. in the Pavilion. Also, there will be a VIP area for Copper Country. For more info, visit http://www.coppercountryfest.com/.
Once again, I truly appreciate your continued dedication and passion for Copper. I hope to see you on a scenic chairlift ride, in the Woodward at Copper Barn or at one of the great special events we have planned for you, your family and friends this summer. Please watch for more communications throughout the year. See you at Copper soon!
